Urgent Domain Problems! Help Required
-
Okay, so I really would like to contact WordPress directly on this but currently there doesn’t seem to be a way for me to do that, hence why I’m posting this here.
I’ve been running a site (www.parallelmusicuk.com) for over two years now, having had the domain name registered with wordpress. Last year I also started a hosting plan with HostGator to use alongside this. I’ve pretty new to this website business and so I made a bit of a mistake in thinking that I didn’t have to renew my domain with wordpress because I was hosting it with HostGator (this sounds very dumb of me in hindsight but what can I say!). So now I’m in the predicament of now having my domain name and not having access to the site.
So naturally I got in contact with HostGator about this, and they pointed me in the direction of a company called Wild West Domains who supposedly own my old domain now. So I contacted them, and here’s what they said:
‘I understand that you are writing in about your domain parallelmusicuk.com. I show this domain is registered through WordPress.com. For help with your domain you will need to contact WordPress.com as we do not have access to domains with them or their accounts. We only provide connections to the registry for them.’
And that’s brought me here. They’ve said I need to contact wordpress and as there seems to be no way for me to currently do this – I’m posting here.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. My website is more of a hobby/portfolio that an actual business but I really don’t want to see 2/3 years of hard work go to waste!
Thanks,

I marked this as Modlook.
“How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question?
Some issues require staff member help. If you see or add a thread that you know needs staff intervention, you can add the modlook tag to the tags area of the thread to make sure we see it.”
As you know the staff is not as available as usual, but the Modlook tag may help.
When you go to your URL it asks you to log in. Have you tried to login there using your WordPress.com login that you used when you first set up with WordPress.com?

Hi there,
The good news is, your domain is not lost. It’s still possible to get it back.
The bad news is at this point in the expiration process there is an $80 fee to get the domain back from our registrar in addition to the regular renewal cost. If you agree to paying this fee, I can get the process started to get the domain back for you. Please let me know.
Once the domain is recovered your Hostgator site should be online again immediately.

Can you please give me the domain you’re trying to get back? If it’s already in redemption it costs us $80 to get it back from the registrar, so let me know if you agree to that fee and I can get the process started as soon as you reply with the domain.
