URGENT: email broke during Guided Transfer migration; support not responding
-
We received an email from our Guided Transfer support person that the transfer to our new web host completed successfully. The site is working, but emails sent to our domain @pattirowlson.com are bouncing (as of today).
- We had custom DNS on out WordPress.com site, which contain custom MX records.
- Our domain is registered with WordPress.com.
- I performed a whois on our domain and it seems the nameservers are NOT set to WordPress.com; they are set to DomainControl.net – which would explain why our custom DNS is not working. We do not know how they ever became set to DomainControl.
- I already reviewed the WordPress.com documentation for updating nameservers, but it’s outdated and was unable to figure out how.
- I reported this to our Guided Transfer tech hours ago and have not received a response. It’s Friday and having all emails sent to us bounce over the weekend are unacceptable.
Assistance on this issue is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Managed to get into WordPress.com DNS management for my account (apparently documentation is not actually outdated, merely confusing).
Looking at the DNS Zone Editor, seemed to be working correctly.
Suddenly, email started working again.
A little feedback: if something as critical as email is going to break temporarily during Guided Transfer, just put a warning about that in the emails you send out! Right?
Ok, calm again :] Thank you.
