URGENT: Go Daddy Verification of my WP Domain Name

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi
I purchased a domain through WP this week. I have set up the DNS records to accept email via Go Daddy. But they we are required to verify my ownership of it before performing a Cease and Desist. To complete this process, they need me to create the a TXT record which must resolve to a unique ID.

Can someone tell me where I enter the TXT record and point it to the Unique ID please?

    Thanks

  • Hi Sutinder,

Try putting the text record into the same place as your other records:

I’ve never heard of this requirement from GoDaddy before, though, so if that doesn’t work for them, can you please provide a bit more information about what you’re trying to do?

    Hi eurello

Thanks for replying. So I inserted the TXT record in the same field and got a message saying: “DNS records saved”.

I spoke to Go Daddy and they have advised that the MX records for my domain have not yet been updated by WP which is why I can’t set up email. I myself confirmed this using MXToolbox.

Without the MX records I cannot set up email. I have been trying to get this sorted for several days now. Please can this be fixed as a matter of urgency please. It is holding up my business.

I repeated the MX records entry and now it is working. MXToolbox has confirmed the DNS records are updated. I will check with Go Daddy if they can now approve email. I’ll let you know.

    Thanks

Just to answer your previous question: I am trying to connect my Go Daddy email plan to my domain. But their system says the domain belongs to someone else, which obviously can’t be the case as WP wouldn’t have been able to sell it to me. So they want to verify that I am the owner and they wanted me to create a TXT record which “should resolve to unique ID xxxxx”.

I followed your instructions to create the TXT record in the field I inserted the MX records but I think it replaced the MX records I created last week hence MXToolboox not showing them.

So recreating the MX records has fixed that. But I don’t know how / if that has impacted the TXT record. I am waiting to hear from them.

This is far too complicated. All I am trying to do is connect email address to my domain.

  • Hi Sutinder,

Your email records look exactly correct now.

Does GoDaddy still need your domain to be verified? If so, can you please put the Text record they gave you back in your DNS so I can view it? I’ll also try adding it in one other place.

    Hi eurello

Go Daddy have responded with the following:

“A public DNS look up on sutinderbola.com does not show any TXT records as set up. Once the TXT record can be seen on a public DNS search of the domain, we would be able to confirm it so you could set up the emails. Please contact us back when you see the TXT record as updated so we can further review.”

I will reinsert the TXT record in the DNS, please let me know what else I need to do so that Go Daddy can see it.

    Thanks

  • Hi there,

That text record does not look correct. Is that the unique ID they gave you? Does the DNS manager refuse to save the whole thing, and if so, can you paste the entire thing into a draft post and save it, and let me look at it there?

Sure, I’ll put it up now.

    It’s called ‘DNS Issue’.

  • Ok, I’ve added what I think needs to be there. This might take a few hours to resolve. After that, can you please contact them and ask if you’re all set?

Thanks eurello – I’ll give them a chase.
