Verifying your domain for Google Search Console with a TXT record requires a custom domain name. This method of verification cannot be used for our default
.wordpress.comsite addresses.As mentioned in the guide that @staartmees linked to, the alternative is to use an HTML tag provided by Google, which can be inserted on your site at Jetpack > Traffic (or Jetpack > Settings > Traffic for plugin-enabled sites).
