Urgent — How Do I Revert MY Blogs theme?
-
I need your help big time. I was checking various themes for a new blog in addition to my Second Chance to Live blog. I had Andreas 09 and all the widgets filled on my main and left side bar.
In the process of demoing the various blog themes for my new blog, my Andreas 09 set up was converted to one of the blog themes that I was demoing. I subsequently lost all of my widgets that I had in my main and right side bars.
My blog now looks completely different and all of my widget are gone.
How do I revert back to the version that has all of my previously established widgets — that I worked very hard to create over time?
Thank you for your urgent help with this matter.

I see that you have the Andreas09 theme activated again. Is your widgets issue resolved? If not, any missing widgets should be in the inactive widgets area. Just drag each of them one at a time back to the appropriate active widget area.

Hi Musicdoc,
Thank you so very much. Yes, have reactivated Andreas 09 and I see that the inactive area below. Am I support to save them again? I am having difficult time dragging them to the sidebars, as when I click on them to then drag them to the main or right side bar(s) they do not drag, just get translucent. Also, in my main side bar there are a list of my categories that I do not want in either of my side bars. I do not have a widget for categories dragged into either side bar, and I can not remove the list of categories from my right side bar? What should I do music doc?
Thank you for your time and kindness in helping me.

Also, in my main side bar there are a list of my categories that I do not want in either of my side bars.
Those must be default widgets. They will vanish as soon as you add the widgets you want. To get rid of them immediately, add an empty text widget to the corresponding sidebar area.
I am having difficult time dragging them to the sidebars, as when I click on them to then drag them to the main or right side bar(s) they do not drag, just get translucent.
I’d suggest you try it again after clearing your browser cache, and updating the browser, if necessary. What browser are you using, including version?

I figured out how to drag the widgets and am in the process of repositioning the widgets. Thank you so very much music doc. Will let you know if I run into any snags. Have a pleasant evening my friend.

Thank you so very much. I see. Default widgets. I am using Firefox 39. I went to tools, options, advanced and clicked the cached web content. Do I need to do anything else?
Thank you MusicDoc.

You’re welcome, Craig
Firefox 39.0 is a beta test release. The latest supported official release is 38.0.5. I don’t know if using the test release might be part of the problem you experience dragging the widgets.
I went to tools, options, advanced and clicked the cached web content.
I don’t know about that. Haven’t kept up with the latest FF changes. If you’re able to drag and drop the widgets know, then ignore my instruction regarding clearing the FF cache.

You are a God send my friend. I downloaded the beta version — hope that it does not much anything up. I have been able to drag and drop the widgets. Am in the process of getting them back into the position I had before. Cleared the cache. Thank you for your suggestion. Thank you again for your time, kindness and willingness to help me. Has been a new learning experience for you. You are the best!

Question: To set up a new blog with a new theme, do I need to log out of my Second Chance to Live Blog to then create a new blog with a new theme, to avoid having to repeat this process of re dragging inactive widget Music Doc? What is your suggestion?
Thank you again for your help.

Regardless of whether you are logged into your present account, if you set up a new blog with a new theme it will have either no widgets or just the default widgets that come with the theme. They will not appear in the inactive widgets area. You’ll have to recreate them. Text widget content can, of course, be copied and pasted.
However, whether you are logged into your secondchancetolive account will have the following effect. If you’re logged in, the new blog will be in the same account. If logged out, you’ll be creating a new account, with a new email address.

I understand about needing to set up new widgets in a new blog and theme, but I am a little confused about the actual set up. Let me explain.
What you stated Music Doc:
However, whether you are logged into your secondchancetolive account will have the following effect. If you’re logged in, the new blog will be in the same account. If logged out, you’ll be creating a new account, with a new email address. My questions:
Thank you so very much. I am trying to wrap my brain around setting up a new blog, as you explained. My interest is to set up a new blog with a new theme, different from Andreas 09; with out affecting the theme set up that I have established and set up with / on Second Chance to Live.Would it be best to create a new blog with in my current account or to set up a new blog in a different account so that do not muddy Second Chances to Live’s set up — with all the different widgets that I have created for Second Chance to Live — in Andreas 09?
If I set up a different account, can I use the same email address as I have with Second Chance to Live or do I have to set up a different email address for the new blog’s account?
Thank you for helping me to understand in how to best set up my second blog.
Have a great day.

@ Craig,
Good day to you.Would it be best to create a new blog with in my current account or to set up a new blog in a different account so that do not muddy Second Chances to Live’s set up — with all the different widgets that I have created for Second Chance to Live — in Andreas 09?
You can have many blogs or websites (I’m unaware of any limit) on the same account. Adding a blog to an account has no effect upon the content of a previous website on the account. No muddying of the first blog will occur.
If I set up a different account, can I use the same email address as I have with Second Chance to Live or do I have to set up a different email address for the new blog’s account?
One account per email address. A new account requires a new email address.

The reason why you will be creating a new account if you are logged out while creating a new blog is the WP doesn’t recognize you. If you’re logged in when creating a new blog, WP recognizes you and places the new blog in your present account.

Thank you so very much for the clarity Music Doc. Interesting and very helpful my friend. Have a great evening. Craig
