URGENT – inappropriate ads appearing on no ads upgrade site
-
I have created a blog for a friend that is of a religious nature and need to send out an invitation from a page on the blog but there are inappropriate advertisements appearing on the page even though the owner of the blog has produced a no-ads upgrade. One of the ads is with two scantily clad women in a bikini or underwear. This is an urgent query, as I cannot send out the invites until this has been resolved and the event is only two weeks away. Please respond urgently. Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Bump.
Please may I have a response to this.
As I have said, it is an URGENT query.
The blog in question is nourishingsap.com.
Thank you.
-
Actually my other post about sending out emails has also been ignored.
The two posts that have both been ignored are connected and the event is coming up and so this is urgent.
One of the reasons the blog was created was to send out invitations.
I sat for an hour putting in 85 email addresses and filling out recaptchas, but even though it said they had gone, the emails did not go anywhere.
if there is one thing worse than not having a feature, it is having a feature that doesn’t work properly – which this one certainly does not seem to.
I can’t even send them out via another email ads due to the inappropriate advertisements appearing on a no-ads upgrade site.
Can someone please respond to these questions as a matter of urgency.
Thank you.

I’ll just keep bumping this until it gets answered. Even if WordPress hired ONE single person to reply to posts, we ought to be able to get a reply to our queries.
It’s stressful and distressing to be completely ignored when you have an urgent and pressing problem that needs to be dealt with.
Also when you consider how much money WordPress make, it’s also completely out of order.

-
Oh I see so you answer other people’s but not mine.
Isn’t that called prejudice?
Thanks a bunch anyway.
-
Well as I’ve searched for over 10 minutes ( a search started before my last post) and not been able to find a post about this, perhaps you would kindly please take a minute out of your busy schedule to post a link to the answer before another day goes by?
Thank you so much.

If you find inappropriate ads on your website, please take a screenshot and upload it to your media library. Once you do that, post a note here so that Staff can have a look at it. See here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/
You mentioned that you have the annually renewable No-Ads upgrade, which of course should stop any WordPress.com based ads appearing on your site. Is it possible you have picked up some browser add-on or malware? Try these suggestions: http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/09/14/bloggers-beware-of-adware/
-
Also, for what it’s worth, I do not see any ads on either of the sites you mentioned above: nourishingsap.com and truthinreality.com
-
Thank you for your reply.
However I most certainly was not imaging things.
There were four ads, one with two scantily-dressed girls in white underwear or perhaps bikinis.
Anyway I’ve not been able to send out the invitations that the blog was in part created for. It wouldn’t matter so much but it makes for a very stressful situation when I am doing this for someone else, not for myself, and someone else’s events as they are not able to use a PC very well.
Also I have been totally brickwalled when it comes to an answer for the other problem that I’ve had, which is that I sat down and sent a test email to myself using the email button at the foot of the post and it worked fine. I then proceeded to send the post to 85 people in the same way, filling out the recaptchas each time. It wasn’t until the last but one, when I typed out the recaptcha wrong and the email was still confirmed as sent that I realised something was wrong. I sent another test email and even though it was confirmed as sent, it did not arrive which would tend to suggest that some, most or all of the rest of the 85 emails had not arrived either.
There is no way of finding out how many emails were not sent or did not arrive. So I have no choice but to send them all out again by another method. However I can’t do that while there are what could euphemistically be called ‘low grade’ ads on it.
So I have a double problem.
Please can you let me know why the emails would not have been sent and what can be done about that. My PC is well maintained with no adware browsers and is regularly swept clean of temporary files etc. and the browser cache emptied. I do not have any problems.
If there is one thing that is worse than not having a feature at all, it is having a feature that doesn’t work properly and one wonders why WordPress allows this.
I would be grateful for a response as a matter of urgency. I have been stressed out by this now for several days and it really is not right to do this to people.
Thank you.

I’m sorry that you are stressed out, but not at any time did I say you were imagining things. I only said I did not see these ads.
I did answer the question that you posted here, which was about the ad problem. Please follow my suggestions above.
-
I have googled this problem and seen that there A SETTING HAS APPEARED called Adcontrol which states that I have already sent an email requesting ads on my blog. I have done nothing of the sort. Presumably that is what has happened to the other blog, but I will need to check. It certainly has happened on one of the blogs so it is very likely to have happened on the others. I am really not happy at all about it. What is going on? Please can you check?

@aliceharding – These are mostly peer-to-peer forums where the majority of answers are given by forum volunteers, such as myself and raincoaster and others.
Since we volunteers do not have access to your Dashboard to see what is going on, I will tag this for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to this thread so that you will see when they reply. Please also do not bump this thread with any further replies, unless you have new information, as threads marked for Staff assistance are usually dealt with on an age basis and bumping the thread pushes it down in the queue.

Thank you for the reply you have given.
Please read my post properly as something that seems to happen with uncanny frequency on this forum is that posts are not read properly.
I did quite carefully explain the connected problem I had which has also been ignored, about the emails not going.
Why is it so difficult to get through to people on WordPress forums?
Please would you read my post again and reply.
I’d really rather not spend an hour on this as I’ve suffered enough over this problem and would really like to get a resolution for it.
I have checked the other blogs and not surprisingly, they too say that I have sent an email requesting to be on the ads program which is a statement without any foundation in fact and considering I paid for the no-ads upgrade because I wanted no advertisements, upsetting. I know you will say they are different kinds of ads, but I didn’t want ANY kinds of ads, and I certainly didn’t request them but all the settings say I did? That would probably apply to everyone else then?
So it looks like something went seriously wrong and one can’t help but wonder how such a mistake would have been made?
I don’t see it as a benefit to have tacky ads on your blog for a few pence per thousand or whatever it is.
I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible so I can get my emails out.
I hope i can look forward to a speedy resolution to the problems.
Thank you.

I’ve heard this counter argument to complaining about being ignored before. However it doesn’t follow that if I don’t bump the post it will be answered when the reverse has proved to be true.
It is only when I have repeatedly bumped the question after obviously being ignored that I have – eventually – received an answer.
I cannot understand why WordPress could not afford to employ someone to answer questions on the forum and it seems appalling that they don’t.
I need to go out and get some fresh air for a while as this is not a good way to start – another – day yet again.
Really it is unacceptable to suffer in this way in attempts to run a blog under these kinds of circumstances.
Out of order.
-
@aliceharding – I have done my best to try and help you resolve this particular problem, as well as asked you a couple of questions in your other thread in an effort to help you resolve that problem as well.
polite suggestion/
Rather than continuously complain about why you are not getting a reply to your questions, why not carry out the suggestions I gave above? That will help Staff when they do get around to looking in on this thread.
/polite suggestionSince I have nothing to add unless and until you at least try my above suggestions, I shall refrain from posting further in this thread.
-
Oh I see so now I am being accused of something I haven’t done under the heading “polite suggestion.”
I have not continuously complained. That is completely false. I suggest you actually read my posts and check the times of the posts and you will see that is a false accusation.
However I would like to make a polite suggestion which is that I have been continuously ignored.
further polite suggestion/
Can you please answer my question which I have now repeated several times about why the email button doesn’t work
/further polite suggestionThank you.

Hi there – regarding the site nourishingsap.com:
even though the owner of the blog has produced a no-ads upgrade
There actually isn’t a No Ads upgrade on this site.
That said, I’m not seeing any ads at all on the site, so it’s possible that the ads were placed there by a browser extension or add-on indvertently installed in your browser.
Could you please try turning off all your Chrome extensions temporarily? Here are instructions for doing that in Chrome:
http://support.google.com/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=187443
If the ads disappear, you can try reactivating the add-ons/extensions one-by-one to find the culprit that’s been inserting the ads.
If the ads still appear, please let me know and we’ll continue to troubleshoot.

Oh Hi, It’s nice to see a Happiness Engineer turned up eventually even though not until after I had suffered a great deal of unhappiness!
As I’ve said before on more than one occasion, there is no problem with the browser and the ads were definitely only showing up only on the blog.
I am sorry but there absolutely is a no ads upgrade for that site as I helped the owner to buy it, as part of a $99 package with the domain name, CSS and Videopress.
Also there were actually three parts to the question.
The question about the email button not working.
Also I don’t know why the settings said I had requested to be part of an ads program when I absolutely hadn’t.
Also our blogs have got mixed up so that my two blogs, Torcross Chapel and Truthinreality.com along with the other two blogs I have registered but not begun work on, show up in his settings when I am logged on as him???? That is really bad, it is embarrassing and should not have happened.
Just another point which I am going to make an official complaint about when I have got thru the present bottleneck of work – which due to the problems with the blogs is proving to be somewhat fraught to say the least – it is awful having to endure all these difficulties with getting a proper and adequate response from WordPress and as if that weren’t enough having to endure the carping and complaining as if I have a nerve having the the effrontery to ask any of this at all, which of course is grossly unfair as the problems that need resolving were hardly caused by anything I have done wrong!!!!!!????? Unless of course the attitude is I should not have started a WordPress blog and should have bogged off in the beginning.
I realise that I am complaining now but I think with justification?
