URGENT – inappropriate ads appearing on no ads upgrade site
-
Oh, and all three blogs had the Adcontrol setting as having been requested, when none of them had.
-
I have turned off the two extensions that were on, Freemake which don’t cause any problems.
The Adcontrol setting says that applications have already been sent in for both blogs – which of course they haven’t – so that’s very worrying.
How could that mistake have been made? It must be happening to everyone then?
-
I realize you have multiple questions. First, let’s make sure we’re looking at the same site, and deal with your initial question of ads appearing on a site with a No Ads upgrade.
I am sorry but there absolutely is a no ads upgrade for that site as I helped the owner to buy it, as part of a $99 package with the domain name, CSS and Videopress.
In your second post you said:
The blog in question is nourishingsap.com.
Could you please confirm that this is the site where you’re seeing ads? If you log into that site’s dashboard, you’ll see that the only upgrade on the site is a custom domain:

Could you please confirm on which site you’re seeing ads? Thanks.
-
Um, there IS in fact a No Ads upgrade. It is a part of the Premium upgrade. This member should NOT be having ads on his or her blog. WordPress should address this immediately.
-
millerteachglobal – as you can see in the screenshot I just posted, there is neither a WordPress.com Premium nor a No Ads upgrade on nourishingsap.com.
-
kathryn, my apologies. I thought the discussion was whether such an upgrade exists. I see that the discussion was instead over whether the upgrades are on his or her site. I was wrong, and I apologize. Thanks.
-
Then there has been a mistake, as I ordered the no ads upgrade and that’s what should have been there. The person whose site it was was left to pay for it, and would not have known if he was billed the wrong amount. I know because I was there at the time. Why pay $60 for a domain name and not $99 for the full upgrade??????? Please check your records and get back to me.
The other questions have still not been addressed.
-
The two sites on this account that have the WordPress.com Premium bundle are:
endtimesinformation.wordpress.com
torcrosschapel.wordpress.comIs that correct, or was one of those Premium upgrades intended for the / donfallon.wordpress.com (nourishingsap.com) site instead? If so, please let me know from which site you’d like me to transfer over the Premium upgrade and I’ll be glad to take care of it.
Why pay $60 for a domain name and not $99 for the full upgrade???????
Just to clarify, the domain cost $26, not $60, as you can see in my earlier screenshot: http://cl.ly/image/3Z2s0H1z0t2X
The other questions have still not been addressed.
Correct. As I mentioned earlier, let’s sort out the ads question first.
-
I haven’t been able to talk with him yet, but it looks like although I left him with the screen to buy the full upgrade, he did not buy it. He is disabled so I have been helping him. I will speak to him as soon as possible.
In the meantime, can we PLEASE deal with the other issues, for about the tenth time of asking?
This is SO trying….. and tiring.
Thank you.

One of the reasons the blog was created was to send out invitations.
I sat for an hour putting in 85 email addresses and filling out recaptchas, but even though it said they had gone, the emails did not go anywhere.
I will answer this question in your other thread, since this one is already very long:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/help-needed-please-email-button-not-working
We will get to the Ad Control issue next, thanks for your patience.
-
Let’s return to the ads appearing on a site for a moment, since that issue isn’t resolved yet. Since I’m not seeing ads on nourishingsap.com, and disabling extensions hasn’t solved the issue, could you please do these two troubleshooting steps:
1) Have a look at the site in a different browser than the one you normally use, such as Firefox – do you still see the ads?
2) Could you please take a screenshot of a sample ad to help in troubleshooting?
Here’s a guide on how to make a screenshot, if you’re not sure: http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/
You can upload the screenshot in your Media Library so I can see it, in a graphic format like JPEG, PNG, or GIF.

The Adcontrol setting says that applications have already been sent in for both blogs – which of course they haven’t – so that’s very worrying.
Could you please post a link to the specific page in your dashboard(s) where you’re seeing this so I can investigate? Thanks.
None of these sites look like they’ve requested a WordAds invitation:
https://endtimesinformation.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=adcontrol
https://janryszardfellowship.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=adcontrol
https://rupertacatfromanotherdimension.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=adcontrol
https://torcrosschapel.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=adcontrol
https://donfallon.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=adcontrol
All of them include an invitation to apply for WordAds in the future, but none indicate that an application has already been made or has been accepted. Is there a different site where you see otherwise? Just let me know and I’m glad to take a look.

Landing page in Adscontrol:

When you click on the link:
That looks very much like a wink by the text clearly stating ” Application has already been sent for this blog.”
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B79nPY7TZauAU3BURVVGbVpwdHM/edit?usp=sharing
I fairly often don’t find American things easy to understand, but I definitely don’t read this as anything other than I have already sent an application.
Also, worryingly, it’s listing my blogs when I am signed in as Nourishingsap.com.
I hope we can resolve these problems soon as my fingers are absolutely hurting and yet I have barely produced anything in the way of work today.
-
Thanks very much for the screenshots.
The text does not say “Application has already been sent for this blog” – it actually says:
If you’re interested in earning money from your WordPress.com site by showing high-quality advertisements, please request an invitation to WordAds today!
You can certainly choose not to request an invitation if you prefer not to apply to the WordAds program. As I mentioned before, no applications to WordAds have been made for any of those five sites.
-
Also, worryingly, it’s listing my blogs when I am signed in as Nourishingsap.com.
I’m not sure what you mean here. Could you show me a screenshot so I understand what you’re seeing? Thanks.
-
Hold on that’s the same one twice. I am so tired with all this, my head is spinning around.
I’ll go get the other one.
-
Only sites you administer that are eligible for WordAds will appear on the checklist, when you’re logged in on your account. Those are your two sites that would be eligible for WordAds if you chose to apply.
If you look at the blue box at the top right, you can see that you’re logged in on the aliceharding account, so the two sites administered by aliceharding that meet WordAds eligibility requirements are displayed:
-
Oh did I not say it was when I was in Nourishingsap.com I saw my blogs listed in the Adcontrol settings?????
-
Right, but you were logged in there under your account aliceharding, according to the screenshot you sent. The eligible accounts connected to aliceharding will show in the selection list.
