Urgent: Need help removing old page with personal information(no account access)
-
Hello,
I’m hoping someone here can guide me on how to resolve an issue with an old page hosted on WordPress.
This page contains personal information about me and my wife from before our wedding. Unfortunately, I no longer have contact with the person who originally created or managed the site, and I do not have access to the account associated with it.
I have already submitted a report/request through WordPress support but have not yet received a response. Given that this page includes personal information, I would really appreciate advice on how to get it removed as soon as possible.
Could someone please advise on:
- The best way to escalate this request
- Whether there is a specific form or process for requesting removal of personal content when you don’t control the account.
Thank you very much for your help.

Hey there!
WordPress.com (operated by Automattic) has a specific process for exactly this. File a private/personal information removal request through their official form at automattic.com/privacy. Under GDPR and similar privacy regulations, you have the right to request removal of personal data — especially content published without your ongoing consent.
Make sure to include in your request:
- The exact URL of the page
- What personal information it contains (names, photos, dates, addresses, etc.)
- That you are the data subject (the person whose information is displayed)
- That you have no access to the account and no way to contact the site owner
Automattic does take these requests seriously, it sometimes just takes a bit of persistence. Hope this gets resolved for you soon.
If you need more help, just ask!

Sorry for the confusion, I just rechecked the Automattic site and turns out they do not have a form anymore.
WordPress.com has an abuse/report form at wordpress.com/abuse you don’t need to be logged in to use it. There’s a specific category for “concerns about your private information” which is exactly your situation.
You can also find the full guide on reporting at wordpress.com/support/report-blogs. Make sure to include the exact URL of the page, what personal information it contains (names, photos, dates, addresses, etc.), and that you have no access to the account and no way to contact the site owner.
Again sorry!
