URGENT – Need Help with Post as Archives Issue
-
Please, can someone help me this a.m.? I’m going to lose readers before I even get started if I can’t resolve this issue right away! Same issue as my earlier Question: All my Categories this morning are coming up as Archives! Everything was fine last night. Can someone please help me resolve this? Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I don’t know what you mean. I do know that when we publish a post (not page) and assign Categories and/or Tags to that post the software automatically publishes it simultaneously to the Categories and Tags pages and to the Archives pages. We do nothing; the software does it all.
categories > http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-categories/
categories widget > http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/categories-widget/
archives > archives widget > http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/archives-widget/ -
OK, I’ve taken a look at the links you provided; I think I’ve set my Categories up correctly. I’m feeling so stupid! I appreciate you’re help – but would you by any chance have a moment to visit my blog and you can see what I’m trying to resolve. It seems like I’ve made an unnecessary connection somehow between my Archives and ??? If you click on any of my Sidebar Categories you’ll see what I mean. I don’t know how to get rid of the info at the top of the Post that says “Category: Archives”; everything is already filing in my Archives but my new Posts are showing this heading. Does this make sense? I feel SO stupid (but I know I’m not). I really appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks!

Sorry, I have 3 blog names – the one I’m using and asking about is “Evolution in the Milky Way.” Thanks!

Try something. Try clicking on the demo for the theme you’re using, and then click, one a time, on a category, archive, and recent post in the side panel of the demo blog. Have a look at whether the behaviour you’re seeing in your blog is the same as what is supposed to happen in the demo, because I think the ‘category: archive’ behaviour you’re seeing is probably just peculiar to that theme. This is the demo for itheme2:
http://itheme2demo.wordpress.com/
Then try putting a ‘recent posts’ widget in your own blog and see if that changes anything (if you’ve left the default widgets in your blog’s theme, then don’t be surprised if it changes the other ones, that’s normal. You may have to add or re-add other widgets. If you’ve not added widgets before, this is how to do it:
Then, I’d suggest that if that doesn’t help, that you go to your dashboard to settings (menu in side bar on left), scroll down til you see ‘settings’ and choose ‘reading’. Then on the Reading Settings page, where it says ‘Blog pages show at most’ put a higher number than you’ve got in the box for the number of posts, scroll down and click the ‘Save changes’ button. Then have a look at if that made a difference.
If not, maybe (even if only temporarily) try a different theme. If it’s still the same on a different theme then you’ve either got something set up wrongly in your dashboard settings or you need to contact support.

Your individual posts will not show the “Category:Archives” heading when viewed on their own, such as
http://evolutioninthemilkyway.wordpress.com/2012/02/26/daily-inspiration-7/The heading “Category: Archives” will appear when you view the Categories or Archives pages. Such as http://evolutioninthemilkyway.wordpress.com/category/daily-inspiration/

I’ve just seen one of your other posts in the forum – and see that you have a static page in the place of a post.
So what you now need to do is make yourself a custom menu and have your posts appear as a link in the menu. Someone else (possibly Timethief) will be able to help you more with the menus and how to do them, but for now here’s a link to the info on them:

As justjennifer points out the “archive” word will appear on Categories pages as a heading. The good news is that there is no issue with your blog.

Wow, Awesome!! Thanks you guys! I have to take care of something else at the moment, but shortly will take a look at everything you’ve suggested. Thank you so much!
