  Hi – i thought that on buying premium membership that my url would be the soundofthunder.net and not have the wordpress part – am I not right? Thanks.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there!

  You’ll need to utilize the domain credit in order to use the custom domain soundofthunder.net. You can do that here:

  https://wordpress.com/domains

  Since this domain is already registered through LaunchPad, select “Map an Existing Domain”.

  Once you’ve finished that process, you’ll need to change your name servers to the following:

  • NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
  • NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
  • NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

  Here’s LaunchPad’s guide for changing your name servers:

  Thanks. I think ive done that but it comes up with another site when i go to the site. Do you know why?

  Hey there!

  I just took a look and your name servers are currently:

  • ns2775.hostgator.com
  • ns2776.hostgator.com

  http://who.is/whois/soundofthunder.net

  You’ll need to change them to the WordPress.com ones I mentioned above.

  Hi again,

  I am SO sorry that I can’t seem to do this. I have logged into launchpad and tried to follow the instructions but so far it just tells me that the name is not available. I’m finding this quite frustrating – is it possible that you could do it for me??

  Hi,

  It also says that someone called Andrew Plant owns the domain name. Is that why when I try to search for it on launchpad it just tells me that it’s not available? Does that mean I can’t use it? I thought wordpress said it was ok to use it.

  i’m pretty confused here – quite a frustrating process.

  All I want to do is get on with writing a blog :-)

  Hello again! Sorry for the confusion. It looks like you got caught by a slight bug we had with our domain registrations a few weeks ago where our registrar was telling us domains that were already taken were in fact available. I’m sorry you got caught in this confusing situation.

  I’ve restored the domain credit for your account. You can register a new domain here:

  https://wordpress.com/domains

  Select “Register a New Domain”
