Hello,
Chances are when setting up your website through WordPress, you created a domain name that was the same as the domain you purchased. However, “LearningTheUniverse” is your domain name, and “.com” is the extension. The domain extension is the last part of a domain name and is separated from the name by a period (.). It can indicate the type of organization or purpose of the site, such as .com for commercial, .edu for educational, .gov for government, .org for nonprofit, and so on.
When creating your account, you enter the name and extension. Soon, the extension became part of the name and your domain got the free wordPress extension which is “wordpress.com”
You need a paid plan to connect your custom domain to WordPress.com.
https://wordpress.com/pricing/To use your custom domain, you will need to map it to your WordPress site. This can usually be done through your WordPress hosting account or by following the instructions provided by your domain registrar. The process often involves changing your domain’s DNS settings to point to your WordPress site’s IP address.
