URL blocked by Facebook when trying to share
-
Hi,
Facebook is blocking our URL whether I try to share our main page or an article, such as https://frlulu.wordpress.com/2019/02/12/interview-avec-superflame-lauto-marketing-a-lere-numerique/
I tried the sharing debugger. It says that “We can’t review this website because the content doesn’t meet our Community Standards. If you think this is a mistake, please let us know.” I let them know, but have heard nothing back from Facebook.
I also tried the Facebook Open Graph Object Debugger. It says that the link is blocked and states that the error that must be fixed is: Error Linting URL An internal error occurred while linting the URL.
I connected our Facebook account to our site. That didn’t help.
I’m at a loss about what to do to fix it. Does anyone know how to fix it?
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Please contact Facebook support for help with this. This is their automated checks that have caused your site to be blacklisted on their end, and only they can review that. We’re not able to help with this in any way.

Hmm. Facebook isn’t responding to my queries. This seems to be happening to a lot of your customers. Maybe Facebook would pay more attention to WordPress than to a bunch of insignificant customers. I think you should try to help.

Hi @dcairns, thank you for the feedback. At this point any issues are between you and Facebook, though, as they are OK with the vast majority of our sites.
Are you reporting from https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/ ? Paste your URL there and if it does not work, there should be a link to click if the block seems to be a mistake. I would try reaching out there first. Good luck!

Hi,
I contacted them using the link from from https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/
They have not replied. :( That’s why I asked here in case someone had the same issue and know how to resolve it. -
Hi there,
Unfortunately, as many of you have looked into this, you most likely have seen how may people have had their sites blocked. Particularly this has been difficult because Facebook support isn’t responsive to people’s inquiries regarding the issue. However, they are the only ones that can solve the issue – there’s nothing we can do on this end.
FWIW, there was a user who was able to contact the sales team and told them that he wouldn’t spend money on advertising unless their site was unblocked and that apparently got Facebook to jump on resolving the issue.
Maybe try reaching out to Facebook via live chat and hopefully they can lead you in the right direction.
Hope this helps!

Thank you for the suggestions, darnelldibbles. Since everything else failed, I contacted the sales team. Fingers crossed!

Update: Facebook never replied to me or to my colleagues who opened other tickets. We ended up switching to a paid WordPress blog out of other options. We have a different URL and have no issues with Facebook now that we switched.
-
Wow, so you upgraded to the business plan and now they’re fine? Very odd. We’ll continue to do what we can on our end, but in the meantime we’re glad you’ve got your site up and going.

Facebook have removed (hidden?) 50+ events/posts of mine apparently because they contained a wp.me shortlink to a perfectly mundane page.
http://wp.me/pDvRh-DJThe expanded form of that page link can be posted without issue.
I just wish I could get my events back.Oddly enough, in the Facebook community forum I can’t even post
http://wp.me itself without being told it is a blocked link!!
But I can post that URL or use it in event descriptions, so I’m not sure what is going on there! -
@cafegames, Thank you for the report. I tried sharing a wp.me shortlink for my own site and that worked fine, so it doesn’t look like all shortlinks are being blocked, but this is the first report we’ve had on shortlinks so it gives us something more to investigate.
For now, please use the contact link in the warning message if you go to https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/sharing/?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwp.me%2FpDvRh-DJ to appeal this with Facebook directly.

Like I said, weirdly there are certain contexts where I can’t even post this:
http://wp.meMy name is Christopher and you can see me commenting on this issue on the Facebook community centre
https://www.facebook.com/help/community/question/?id=1466800993465230
As you can see, in that location, I can’t even post the basic domain url ending in “.me”
I just tried to post the following line
“trying to post https://wp.me but Facebook won’t let me”I could post that in other places but not there.
Maybe you could try post it after my comment? (Requires desktop access) -

Sorry to hear it, cafegames. In my experience with this, folks have had the best luck by reaching out to Facebook directly with these steps:
1 – Paste your url here: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/
2 – You’ll see a message saying it’s blocked. But you’ll also see a link to report an issue. Click that to get in touch. That way they’ll have the exact URL that’s they have blocked.
Let us know how that goes!

No response from Facebook yet.
I can’t find that mythical way to Chat with Facebook either.
It’s so creepy how they always hide in the shadows.I’ve seen places on Facebook full of actual pornography that Facebook is too apathetic to remove, and yet their bots randomly run around blocking random wordpress posts without even telling anyone …
-
Well … Facebook seem to have fixed things. They sent an automatic “thanks for your feedback” message, and when I checked, I was unblocked and they’d returned my events. Still creeps me out a little bit because I have no idea when this exact same thing might happen again. Without warning too!

Hi cafegames,
Glad to hear you’ve received a reply from Facebook now. We’ll keep our fingers crossed it doesn’t happen again but if it does, you can contact Facebook again using the steps @supernovia shared.
Thanks for keeping us in the loop though.
