URL Change: Removing old site from Google
-
Hi all,
I’m sorry to ask this; I’m completely certain it has been covered before, but all of the threads seem to cover how to avoid the problem in the first place. Unfortunately, I didn’t read those threads before I changed my username, so now I’m stuck!
I changed my username from listerlegs to enroutetoawesome. My blog name remained the same. Unfortunately, anyone searching “En Route to Awesome” in Google gets listerlegs.wordpress.com – which no longer exists!
Please, how do I remove it? I have looked in my Webmaster tools, but I can only find options for removing content under enroutetoawesome.wordpress.com. I can’t verify ownership of listerlegs.wordpress.com because it doesn’t exist any more. Is there something I can do, or am I just stuck?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You are just stuck until Google changes it. This can take several months, which is one reason i recommend setting things to Private instead; they seem to update faster that way.

Thank you. It looks like I’m creeping gradually back up the search results, so hopefully I’ll just bump the old one off soon.
I won’t make the same mistake twice!
