URL changed…lost previous stats (edited)

    Hi. I recently changed my domain name from therealmofscience.wordpress.com to theblogofthecosmos.wordpress.com. I found out afterwards that I lost all my share stats for twitter and facebook (the ones in blue).

    How do I get them back? They really made my articles look better :(

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    I think you might need staff to transfer or merge your share stats, if it’s possible. I’ll tag the topic for staff attention.

    Hi @mohamedmshaban

    I have migrated your stats from from therealmofscience.wordpress.com to theblogofthecosmos.wordpress.com.

    Let us know if you need anything else.

    @musicdoc1 Thank you. I quite appreciate it!

    @bdukes
    Thank you very much for doing so. However, I still do not see any changes. Facebook and Twitter share/like stats (bottom of blog posts) are nonexistent still. Maybe it takes time? Thank you again. It’s appreciable.

    We are only able to migrate WordPress.com stats. Facebook and Twitter stats are provided directly form Facebook and Twitter and not something we have control over.

    When you change your site URL often social media sites see this as a new site. You may want to see about reaching out to Facebook and Twitter directly to see if they have tools in place to change your URL within them.

    @bdukes Ok. Thanks. One more question sorry. Why is it when i google the title of my blog posts…the old url (which is nonfunctional) shows up and not the new one?

    The way search engines work is though a process called “indexing” this simply means that they scan your site’s content and analyze what is on it and/or download a copy to use with their algorithm.

    Due to the vastness of the Internet it can take several weeks for the search engines to update their copy of your site. Here is our documentation on search engines you may find helpful:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/search-engines/

    One possible solution is to request the search engine re-index your site. Here are some links you can use:
