Url doesn't show the text I entered
-
I expected the url of my pages to show the page name (like ‘…wordpress.com/home’, or ‘…wordpress.com/events), but instead of the name of the page, it shows the url as a post (‘…wordpress.com/#post-72’, or …wordpress.com/#post-283.) I went to each page and made sure the link under the page title had the name of the page, but I still don’t see it in the url. I guess the ‘#post-283’ is because WordPress thinks it is a blog and not a website? I am new to WordPress and don’t know where I am going wrong. I would appreciate some guidance. Thanks!

Hey dragmin,
It looks like you are using the Pique Theme, correct?
I would suggest updating the Slug within your post(s). To do this, you will need to click into the post you would like updated. For example, wordpress.com/#post-72. Then, on the right hand side under Post Settings, you will want to scroll down to More Options and then Slug.
From there you can enter what you would like to appear within the URL. So in your case, the page name. WordPress.com will automatically add a dash in between spaces. For example, ‘page name’ will become ‘page-name’ in your URL.
Give that a try and let us know if that is what you were looking for.
I really hope this helps!

Hi there
Thanks a lot for taking the time to help me.
Yes, I am using the Pique theme. I double-checked my pages and I do already have my slugs set as you suggested. They show correctly on the edit page in the link area under the page header, but they do not show correctly on the live site. They still say “post-72”.
I should probably point out that I am using the free version of wordpress.com. Do you think this may be the reason?
Thanks again
