How do I create a Blavatar?

  When I go to various websites, including other sites on wordpress.com, you see a small custom icon displayed next to the URL (for instance a W is displayed for this help page). For my blog, I see the standard WP icon, and can’t figure out how to display a custom one.

  This is usually called a favicon, but we have a special name for it – Blavatar! (blog + avatar)
