url is wrong.

  I started an account with you called http://www.laycewhitworth.com. How ever it comes up as this, http://wwwdotlaycewhitworthdotcom.wordpress.com/ which is wrong and does not work. can you help me to fix this problem. Also I had a website with Brinkster and for some reason the site went down over a week ago during one of their scheduled maintenance shut downs and the site has never come back up and no one knows why this happened or how to fix the problem so that’s why I started a new site here at wordpress.com. I thank you for your help

  Hi there,

  All WordPress.com sites start out as blogname.wordpress.com, and when you want to register a specific domain (in your case, it looks like you would want to register laycewhitworth.com), the blog URL usually ends up looking like blognamedotcom.wordpress.com. Since WordPress.com strips out “www” from the beginning of the URL, if you added it in, then it will end up looking like wwwdotblognamedotcom.wordpress.com.

  Once you register a custom domain (or map an existing one to your site), all your users will see is the custom domain.

  So I have a few questions for you, and then I can help you get this sorted out :)

  Do you already own the custom domain laycewitworth.com?

  Which blog would you like to associate your domain with?

  the blog URL usually ends up looking like blognamedotcom.wordpress.com.

  Would be nice if the Techs would fix that to strip out the .tld suffix. I can’t think of any valid reason why it should convert ‘.’ to ‘dot’.
