URL issue

  Hi.. I’m a little confused. I thought that having a specific username meant you were assigned that URL too? And deleting your account meant that no one else could have that URL or Username again?? I tried to make a URL with my username but it said it was already taken, I went to the site and it said it had been deleted by the author. I really don’t understand the way WordPress does the username/url stuff.. Could anyone help me understand this a little better? Am I supposed to be able to have that URL or is it not related to my username..

  Any help would be appreciated.

  When we register a username account the matching blog is reserved for our future use. It cannot be obtained by anyone other than the person who has registered the matching username account.

  This blog was registered in 2008 http://honeyt.wordpress.com/ by the person with this username account https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/honeytuche

  If you own that username account then you can log out, clear your browser cache and cookies and then log in as Admin under the correct matching username account.

  There is no expiration date on blogs unused, reserved or otherwise. If you can make contact on your own with the owner of an unused blog via a contact form or commenting, then providing the are agreeable there is a means of a consenting blog owner to transfer the blog to another username account. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

  In the case that there is no contact information Staff will not breach the privacy policy and provide you with an email address.

  Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.
