Hi. If I understand correctly, you are trying to add a link on your header that would go to an external website. How about using a custom menu instead?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
You could recreate a menu with your existing pages and a custom link to that external website. -
As airodyssey mentions you can do this with Menu Bar on top of your blog. You can have a Custom Menu that will link the external site. This will show in all your pages. In the same way you can set up a link in your Side Bar. Again it will show in all you pages. You can add the link directly in you page. This way it will only show in the page. It is set up in the same way you set up a link in a post.
1. Links in your posts or pages: http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/
2. Links in your Menu: http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-custom-links
3. Links in your Side Bar: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/links-widget/Have fun blogging!

As airodyssey pointed out if you want a link in your horizontal menu where pages are normally display you must create a custom menu and include a custom link to the site in question in it. A custom menu allows you to display Categoy and sub-category in tabs along the horizontal navigation where normally only Pages tabs are displayed. If you wish you can also include Pages and sub-pages and Custom Links in your custom menu as well.Staff have provided help for those who want to structure their blog like a website. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/
These are the how-to instructions:

Thank you Timethief, this is very useful. I am still not clear if I can achieve a menu design based on what I have read in the WordPress Support links that you have provided about creating custom menus.
I want to create a hierarchy of nested menus so that when a post or page is displayed, only the menu of the next level up is shown on the side (or top).
Also, at the top-level menu, I only want the top-level headings displayed, not all the sub-level headings. (This latter effect seems to be the only way when using nested Categories in WordPress. Categories that have parent-child relationships, when displayed, will show the entire hierarchy of category headings. I don’t want this effect in the navigation menu.)
Here is an example of what I am talking about: http://www.learner.org/courses/mathilluminated/units/
Note the menu on left side. When you click on any heading, it takes you to a submenu. Each topic of the submenu, you can click on to get you to the final page. Also, the top level menu shows only top level headings.
Is there a theme(s) in WordPress that allows me to do this?
any suggestions are appreciated
