URL Stealers.
-
I have a brand name on most social network sites, which I have worked up with for multiple years with hundreds of thousands of followers. It was suggested that I start my own blog! I went to do so but I was not allowed to take the URL name because it was “reserved”. When I typed the URL in for the last two years, no content came up at all!
I believe that someone has maliciously taken this URL to spite me. The URL is very specific and I doubt that someone else would actually use it for themselves.
This is very distressing, as it’s a very personal brand and it’s use would be most personal to me too, the fact someone has taken this blog away from me is most unkind.
I wish to contact WP directly and talk this through, not publicly really. Does anyone have a contact detail at all?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

EDIT, I do NOT need help with BECKIE0.WORDPRESS.COM – because that is my personal diary blog. I need help with ANOTHER BLOG that I will not provide the name for at this time. Thank you.

The top level domain here is wordpress.com and all blogs hosted by WordPress.com are on .wordpress.com sub-domains. No one owns a URL of a .wordpress.com sub-domain they have not registered.
-
When we register a username account the matching blog is reserved for our future use. It cannot be obtained by anyone other than the person who has registered the matching username account. If you have changed your username then the blog URL will not be available for use under the new username account.
There is no expiration date on blogs unused, reserved or otherwise. If you can make contact on your own with the owner of an unused blog via a contact form or commenting, then providing the are agreeable there is a means of a consenting blog owner to transfer the blog to another username account. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account
In the case that there is no contact information Staff will not breach the privacy policy and provide you with an email address.
If you are not successful, you can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

I have the domain name ____.com – but I’m about to use it for a website. I wanted the _____.wordpress.com. So yes, you’re right, but that doesn’t help me here. Someone has taken _____.wordpress.com deliberately to stop me using it. Is there anyone I can contact?

P.S. Talking this through will get you nowhere.I have already provided the correct response above but you are free to email Staff and wait for them to tell you what I already told you if you want to. “If you do not have a paid upgrade, please post your question in our community forums. If you have a paid upgrade, please use the “Contact Support” form, where you will receive a choice of having staff answer your question publicly or privately.”
There is some help available, but you have to be a paying member to receive that direct support and I can’t do that at the moment. Is that the only way I will even get a chance at having my issue solved? If I pay?! That is pretty harsh! :(.
I have already been through the forums and nothing has helped, just made me even more upset because most responses are “just forget about it, change url and move on”. Going through the forums and remaining helpless is what led me to posting here.

What I posted above applies to ALL blogs hosted by WordPress.com. Be clear that the answer does not change simply because one buys upgrades for any blog hosted here.

omeone has taken _____.wordpress.com deliberately to stop me using it.
Prove it!
Sorry – I doubt you are the only Beckie in the world, or you are the only one in the world that uses your nickname
I am not the only captain mike in the world – many variations of the spelling for different web sites, all different people – same with a user name I use in some forums
Someone quite probably just liked “your name” and opened an account – probably because the name meant something to them – also quite probably they have no idea who you are nor probably care
-
most responses are “just forget about it, change url and move on
That was good advice and I would follow it If I were you because contacting Staff about this is an exercise in futility.

When I put up this post, it required me to select my own wordpress as the site that needed help with. I have no problems with beckie0.wordpress.com = because that is a personal blog.
I need help with a new url with a complex and personal array of letterings that I do not wish to reveal here. It’s not a case of a name taking, it’s a whole combination of words/meanings/disorders that have been taken maliciously.
Thank you.

In order to receive direct help (via that place that is closed till the 23rd), it requires me to be a paying member, if not I can only receive help through the forums by posing as I have done so above. This thread probably won’t help me, as I need to talk to someone in the system, a member of staff or just somebody in the works! :(. But it’s worth a go, because someone here might have an answer or a contact x.
-
As I stated above I have posted the correct response and Staff will tell you the very same thing I have already posted. Any other other response you receive that deviates from exactly what I posted above would be incorrect.
-
because someone here might have an answer or a contact x
I already posted the email address for Staff contact above

Oh I see, because it was in a separate box with different font, I just looked past it! I will give that a bash! :). Thank you.

or you are the only one in the world that uses your nickname
(brand)
keep in mind also – you have been here 5 years – the account you find offensive only two years – you had 3 years to grab the very important band name / nickname blog name
