URL switch between my blogs

    Hi,

    I have three blogs running, but the two I will be referring to is nlopezdearenosa.wordpress.com (Enveloped Expressions) and linkinfication.wordpress.com (My Linkin Adventures)

    Enveloped Expressions was my first blog, but I have it private to no longer show. I don’t need or want it. My newest blog is linkinfication.wordpress.com, My Linkin Adventures, and it is my blog I may even want to purchase a domain for.

    Problem is, I want the url nlopezdearenosa.wordpress.com to be the url for My Linkin Adventures (linkinfication.wordpress.com). I don’t need any of the content to be saved from Enveloped Expressions, I just want that url to replace linkinfication.wp.com for my main blog, active blog My Linkin Adventures.

    I then want to purchase the domain to make it nlopezdearenosa.com

    I hope this makes sense! Please tell me what to do, wasn’t sure if deleting Enveloped Expressions would allow me to change My Linkin Adventures to be nlopezdearenosa.wordpress.com.

    The top level domain here is wordpress.com
    All WordPress.com blogs are on .wordpress.com sub-domain URLs.

    Please know that when purchasing a domain mapping upgrade it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com blog URL is that you are mapping from to the domain URL.

    My newest blog is linkinfication.wordpress.com, My Linkin Adventures, and it is my blog I may even want to purchase a domain for.

    In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.

    Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

    So basically, I can make linkinfication.wordpress.com into nlopezdearenosa.com even if nlopezdearenosa.wordpress.com exists? (Which it won’t, it’s just sitting there gathering cyber dust)

    Yes. It does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.

    If you want to delete nlopezdearenosa.wordpress.com (Enveloped Expressions), rather than leaving it private and using it as a backup blog you can do that but I wouldn’t. Mirror blogs are useful as they can be used to test widgets. themes, etc. as well as being an archive of identical content that you can update with XML export/import files for use if you ever need to restore content.
