URL Taken but is misused

    Hello the URL I would like is paleonews.wordpress.com. The only problem is that currently that URL is being held by someone that has not posted since 2009. I was wondering how long the URL could go abandoned for before it was taken down since currently it has been over 8 years since a post has been made. I know I have not made a post on my website in a while but that is because not having the nae I want has made me uninspired to work, like wanting to work for Wendys instead of Mcdonalds. I plan on bringing in a full group of artists and writers to the board. Thank you for all your time and I hope to hear from you soon

    Hi there,

    Even if a user has abandoned their site, there is no expiration on a blog and the URL will not be accessible. You can, however, attempt to make contact with the owner of that URL and request a transfer of ownership to your username account.     If you are not able to make contact with the owner, you can also register a custom domain and map it to any underlying .wordpress.com address. Other viewers will only see your custom domain.

    If neither of these options work for you, then the best bet is for you to register another blog with a similar name or keep the one you already have. I understand that you may feel uninspired with this latter option, but there are a lot of other domains out there to explore.
