URL's not linking to content in posts

I am trying to add both external URL’s from websites outside of either wordpress or my own blog, and also trying to link to previous posts of my own blog, however my links are not working.
I’m not receiving any sort of error when trying this. It just simply does not work.
I click on the ‘Insert/edit link’ button, place the details, and hit ‘Add Link’ but then nothing happens. NOTHING.
Is anyone else having this type of problem?

I tried the adding links on my blog, and it works.Maybe it’s a browser issue. So try this, clear your browsers cache and cookies, login again and add a link. See if the problem persists now.

Thanks for replying so quickly.
I tried clearing my cache (even restarted my computer afterwards) but still no luck.
However, I have now tried to simply copy the URL and paste it directly onto my highlighted text within my blog post and that is working.There must be some kind of glitch with my link button… not sure if the wordpress wizards read these forums to somehow look into it?
If not, then maybe it’ll just fix itself one day.Thanks for your suggestions optidusprime :)

Well maybe someone from the staff can look into this issue? You can add the modlook on the Tags section of the sidebar to reach staff.

Hi there,
Can you please tell me which editor you’re using – the WP-Admin editor or the My Sites editor? Do you type and highlight the anchor text before clicking the Add Link button, or do you type the anchor text directly into the Add Link tool?
What browser and browser version are you using? Do you have JavaScript enabled in your browser? Have you checked if the same thing happens if you use a completely different browser?

Here are your answers:
I use the WP-Admin editor (have always done so and never before had any troubles with the links)

I am using Google Chrome (don’t know what version), and again, have always been using this same browser.
Not sure about Javascript… how do I tell?
As mentioned, I have always used google chrome so haven’t tried a different browser as an option.Thanks!

I created a test post on your site and tried adding a link, both by simply pasting a URL in the add link pop-up, and by selecting a link to an existing post on your site itself, and both worked for me, so the problem is not with your site.
Please check if you’re able to do this using a different browser. It could be a Chrome update has broken this.

My chrome version is: Chrome 57.0.2987.133
and it seems that I do have javascript enabled.Unfortunately at this stage I cannot check another browser because this is a work PC and we only have Chrome installed… but I guess then that this does have to do with a chrome update that’s broken it. boo.
At least I am still able to link URL’s by pasting it directly onto the highlighted text, so for now I will continue doing that until I can get a new browser to test it out on.Thanks so much for your help!!

For what it’s worth, adding links do work for me in Chrome as well, but please check in a different browser/different computer when you’re able to. It could be something else, like a setting or a browser extension that’s causing problems as well.
I’m glad the link-pasting is working, at least.

Please do let me know if you also have the problem in another browser. Just because I can’t replicate the issue right now doesn’t mean there isn’t one, so any extra information that might help us confirm a bug would be useful :)
