Usage of visibility in widget "Recent Posts"
-
If I use the “Recent Posts” widget it works fine if I don’t use the Visibility option.
If I Use that for a categorie nothing is showing.
Can you help me?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Could you tell me how you want the Recent Posts to work? On which pages would you like it to appear?
Thank you!

Dear LuckyOne,
Thanks for your quick response.
I’M afraid I made a logical error. The Visibility option can manage the place (page or post) of the widget.
But what I want is within a Recent Posts widget choosing for several categories for example: “latest news from press”or “latest news from organisation”. And that is not possible i think.
Kind regards from Frits Mijnhardt -
Hello Frits,
You are correct that it’s not possible to do this with an existing widget. However, I think your goal can be accomplished using shortcode in a Text Widget.
Here are the instructions:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/display-posts-shortcode/An example of what you might do is add a Text widget, title it “Archief,” and then paste this short code into the content box:
[display-posts category="Archief" posts_per_page="5"]
Then, save your widget.
The code will display your 5 latest posts that you’ve categorized as Archief.
This should give you a good basis to add any other categories you’d like. I’d suggest adding different Text widgets for each.
I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!
