Use an existing domaim
-
I want to use an existing domain (that I own) to point to my wordpress-blog. I find the page where I can do this – but it costs 11 dollars per year. I have already paid for the domain – why do I need to pay YOU, too? And is this the only way to connect my domain to my blog? Seems so strange that I own a domain but cannot find a way to point it in the right direction. Also – how come you offer me to pay for this domain – how do you know it’s my domain to be used? I have not found a way to connect it “from the other end” so there is no way you can know that I am the owner of this domain and that it is mine to use.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi lussenosen,
If your domain registrar offers a forwarding service, you could use it to point to lussenosen.wordpress.com as well. You won’t be able to have your address in your individual posts though.
You could change your domain’s nameservers to ns1.wordpress.com and ns2.wordpress.com, but your domain won’t be on “the list” of domains that will direct visitors to your blog. What the Domain Mapping upgrade does is add your domain name to “the list”, so that WordPress.com’s nameservers know where to direct visitors of your domain to.
