Use Domain Name Outside of WordPress

  Hello,

  I accidentally purchased a domain name redcrosseasternpa.org in WordPress. If I type in this domain address it redirects to my blog redcrosseasternpablog.org. I want to use redcrosseasternpa.org for my website not my blog (redcrosseasternpablog.org). Is there anything I need to do to point redcrosseasternpa.org to my website?

  Also in the future I might want to move the domain name to a different registrar like go daddy. What is the process for doing that?

  Hi there,

  Do you want to move the domain redcrosseasternpa.org to another WordPress.com website? You can do that from your My Upgrades page, using the “Transfer to another site” link under your domain there.

  If you have any trouble with it, please let me know the WordPress.com address of the site where you want to use that domain, and I can help you move it. :)

  Hi,

  I would like to use the domain redcrosseasternpa.org that I registered in WordPress for a site that is not hosted by WordPress. Is there anything I need to do in order to do that?

  Hi there,

  You can use that domain with a website hosted somewhere else using one of the options in the guide to Move Your Domain to Another Host.

  You can do that whenever you’re ready by finding out what name servers your site’s host uses, and then change the domain’s name servers so it points to that host. :)
