use images as a link to new page

    Hi!
I want to use images with titles inserted into a page as a link to a new page where you can find more information about the project shown in the image.
The problem is that the moment I use titles, I can’t move the images anymore, they just appear one below the other which is rather boring as a layout.
If I use them without titles, I can move them and let them appear as a kind of mosaic. This looks much better, but makes no sense as I need the title to define the image.
If I use the images as a picture gallery, I can use them with titles and arrange them beautifully, but then I can’t link the images to a page.

I can’t believe that there are no more options to solve this situation. Can anyone help me?????

I am using “The morning after” theme for the blog: hollegha.wordpress.com

    Thank you!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Make an HTML table, and put the images and the text and the links in each cell in the table.

Okay, it seems that to make a HTML table I need the “table press plugin”?
On my dashboard there is no option for plugins, why that????

Here’s an easy way to do this:

    1. Upload your image.

    2. To the right, in he Attachment Details section, you should see Title, Caption, Alt Text, Description. Below these, you’ll see the Attachment Display Settings, with Alignment and Link To. In Title, enter your image Title. In caption, use the following code:

    Insert Page Title Here
(this will place a link in the caption section).

You can enter alternate text or a description to describe your image, if you like.

    3. In the attachment display settings, align your image how you choose (left, center, right). In the section called Link To, click the little down arrow next to it and you should get a drop down menu. Choose the option “Custom URL”.

    4. At this point, you can do one of two things: click insert into post, which will put the image into your post OR, on the left hand side click Create Gallery. The above steps work best for standalone images you want to go to a different URL when you click on them.

The above steps will work best for what you’re trying to accomplish. The following steps are additional steps you can take if you want to create a gallery versus manually moving the images into the positions you need.

    5. If you click Create Gallery, you can put multiple images into a gallery. Once you’ve captioned your images with links their appropriate pages, just choose the images you want to add to your gallery.

    6. Click on Create New Gallery at the bottom right.

    7. This will take you to the Edit Gallery section. Here, on the right hand side, you will see Gallery Settings followed by Link To, Columns, Random Order (check box) and Type (type of gallery).

    8. In the gallery, you can’t link the picture directly like you can a standalone image, but if you did the captioning part right, there will be a link placed in the caption of the image. So, here, I would just choose Link To None.

    9. Next, choose how many columns you want in your gallery (you can have up to 9).

    10. Then, choose the type of gallery you want (Thumbnail Grid, Tiled Mosaic, Square Tiles, Circles, Slideshow).

    11. Then click Insert Gallery at the bottom right.

    12. Once you’ve done that, preview your post and see if you like the layout before you publish it. If you don’t, you can edit the gallery by clicking the picture icon at the top left of the embedded gallery in your WordPress Edit Post and update your gallery to the allowable specifications, should any suit your needs.

Sorry, the code in step 2 should read like this :

a href =”insert url here” target=”blank”>Insert Title Here

Remember to put the < before that a href. That will close the code. I took it out for the sake of the example because putting in here establishes the “link” since the forum uses html.
