Use Netlify hosted site for WordPress domain / domain transfer
-
I currently have a Gatsby generated site hosted on Netlify for a client. The client has a WordPress domain that is not used with a WordPress site at the moment. We would like the WordPress domain pointing to the Netlify hosted site, but as far as I know WordPress does not allow this directly?
In that case, a domain transfer would be needed to another registrar, such as NameCheap for example: (as Netlify itself is not a registrar, it is only used for free hosting service) https://www.namecheap.com/domains/transfer/
The WordPress domain would need to be prepared for transfer and the following guide on WordPress will explain this: https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/transfer-domain-registration/
Is changing the name servers needed in this case, as mentioned on the guide?
I would like to keep using Netlify for free hosting, but only use the domain initially bought on WordPress.

If you want to direct your domain elsewhere, you can either transfer it https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/transfer-domain-registration/ or keep it here and change its name servers: https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/change-name-servers/
With that said though, I don’t see any domain names under your account here.
What is the domain name in question?
