Use of Blog Title and Tag Line
-
Friends,
I’m in the process of bringing up a little blog which may be viewed at: http://gerrygoodrich.wordpress.com.
As you can see, I have chosen a Kubrick Theme. I have split the header into two blocks. The left most is a 200 x 200 pixel block in which I display a picture of my granddaughter. The second is the right most 560 x 200 pixel area in which I want to display as centered text the blog name along with its tag line.
The Kubrick Theme will display these text fields in the header for me as taken directly from from the Blog Title and Tag Line in the General Options. The only problem with this is that – if I elect to place text in these General Options fields – it will be centered within the larger 760 x 200 pixel header rather than the 560 x 200 pixels I have chosen for it.
The question I have is, am I losing anything by not placing the header text in the General Options fields? i.e. Are they used for anything other than display, such as blog searches or blog entry into lists of blogs, etc.?
Until I get involved with blogging I’d rather not pay the price – small though it is – of adding css to my blog through which I could achieve these same goals.
Any other suggestions which might steer me round these problems would be considered happily.
Thanks in advance,
Gerry Goodrich

I must be missing something. I see your title and tag line centered in the 560x200px portion of the header. That’s in IE7. What browser are you using?

Same for me in Firefox (mac and windows) and in Safari (mac); centered in the blue area.

Try clearing your browser cache and then reloading the page. It may be that you are viewing a cached version of the page.

I’m sorry, the header you are looking at is the replacement created with photo shop. The title and tag lines are correctly centered here. But if I were to add the text in the General Options fields, you’d see that these are centered in the 760 x 200 window and just about touch the picture.
Again, the real question is: am I losing anything by not placing the header text in the General Options fields? i.e. Are they used for anything other than display, such as blog searches or blog entry into lists of blogs, etc.?
Thanks so much for your help so far.
Gerry
