Use of CSS selectors
-
Am looking for help with using CSS with WordPress.com. Changing with CSS the appearance of various single paragraphs in my blogs. I would need selectors I suppose to do that. Any available explanations for that sort of thing. Say I wanted this paragraph have a certain width and background color, or other CSS “tags.” I’m really not sure of what I’m talking about. I guess I need someone or some tutorial to show me the way to using CSS with my Blog.
This may not even be a topic, more of general question regarding the use of CSS for individual blog entries.
‘The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

@pbwaring after you have had a look at the links offered by @shubhamgmath you could have a go a achieving styles for specific paragraphs as mentioned in your post.
If you want to change the background color of a paragraph, or the font size etc, you are correct in assuming that you need to use selectors.
You can add a selector to a piece of text by using the HTML tab in the text editor.
Find the piece of text you want to apply styles to and surround it with a div tag that has a CSS selector inside it as follows:
This is a paragraph I'd like to make red with a background colour colour of white
this will allow you to apply CSS styles to the text by adding the following to the Additional CSS section of your customizer as described by @pbwaring.red-paragraph{ color: #990000; background-color: #ffffff; }This will change the text colour to red for this paragraph and in fact any other paragraph that you apply the same selector to.
I hope that and the advice given to you by everyone else is enough to get you started and as @supernovia says, if you have any specific questions feel free to get back to us. -
Ahhh my first code example got stripped out.
I’ll try again…This is a paragraph I'd like to make red with a background colour of white -
