Use old deleted username

In this account WordPress I used a different username before, but I changed it because I want to create another account with that username that doesn’t correspond to my name (as instead does the one I have now). The problem I face is that when I try to create an account with my old username the system tells me that it is not possible to use it because it’s not available (Choose a different username. This one is not available). But it’s not true because I used it before and I deleted it, so it should be available now. I searched for this old username on Google and I saw that is it listed as mine, in my account WordPress, but when I open the page it shows my current name and not the old one. So it’s like WordPress has not updated my profile. How can I solve this problem? Thank you.

Once you change your username you will not be able to change it back and the old name will not be available for you or anyone to use. If you just want to show your name differently please only change your Display Name.
As such, you’ll be unable to use that old username, but you can change the display name. Sorry for any inconvenience!
