Use WordPress to Maintain an existing web site

    Hello. Im sorry but I am very new to the Web scene and trying to break into the business from doing mainframe work for 30 years.
    A friend told me about WordPress and that it WAS the tool to be using/learning.
    My question is this…..
    I have a business the wants me to start maintaining their web site. So do I just go thru Map A Domain and start working on it?
    Their info is rebuildinghouston.org and they also provided
    Server host:#####host.com as well as
    web site FTP and Network information.
    So do I map to rebuildinghouston.org? It is just a little hard for me to understand how all this fits together coming from the MF world. A little help would be appreciated and then I think I can learn on my own. Its been a long time since I have done web work but I think I can pick it up pretty fast. I am also going to use your service to build my own business web site soon.

    That sounds very frustrating indeed, however, we don’t provide the support you need here at wordpress.COM.

    WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    As you are referring to a site that is not hosted here, if you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.
