Hi Team, we currently use cloudflare, and we cannot afford to change nameservers to wordpress. Is there anyway we can use wordpress paid plan without delegating the NS to wordpress. TIA.

Hi @banditaman, it’s not necessarily advisable, but I understand it’s possible. How you set up would depend on what plan you’re using and how you’re intending to use Cloudflare. After connecting the domain to your site, your other settings would be on their end, so I can’t promise these would work well, but they do have some tips on their setup here.
For what it’s worth, unlike the free WordPress code which can be used with whatever hosting configuration you choose, WordPress.com’s managed hosting service includes CDN, caching, optimization, SSL, and managed security. Also, if you’re using our name servers, you can customize the DNS records as needed. Let us know if you have questions.

Hi @supernovia,
There are some cloudflare specific features (eg argo tunnel), which need our nameservers to be cloudflare. Controling just some DNS records, doesn’t solve this for us.
Do You have a page specifying the DNS records which might need to be added, we can get the eCommerce Plan, but the specific requirement is we need the blog to be hosted out of a “/blog” url, as we have our mail company website running on the home page.
Can you please confirm :
- It is possible to be on the eCommerce plan and setup wordpress.com site without changing the nameservers to wordpress.
- It is possible to setup the wordpress site on the /blog path, cause our separate base website is running on the root doamin.

Hi there,
It is possible to be on the eCommerce plan and setup wordpress.com site without changing the nameservers to wordpress.
You can use A records and a CNAME (for the
wwwsubdomain) record to point your domain to us, if changing the name servers isn’t an option. For sites on the eCommerce and Business plan those records vary, so you’ll first need to upgrade to the plan and add the domain connection upgrade. After you’ve added the domain, the IP addresses you need to add as A records on Cloudflare’s end will display in your dashboard.https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/#connecting-with-a-records
It is possible to setup the wordpress site on the /blog path, cause our separate base website is running on the root doamin.
I’m afraid not. We don’t support mapping a site to a subdirectory like
yourdomain/blog.We only support mapping a site to a subdomain, like
blog.yourdomain. In that case you also don’t need to switch name servers at all, but will simply add a CNAME record at Cloudflare, pointing your chosen subdomain to your site’s free WordPress.com address.https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-subdomain/#adding-cname-records-with-your-registrar
