Used WordPress to host a site, need to unlock domain name to use elsewhere

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,

Earlier this year I canceled my contract with wordpress and I opted to keep my domain name- elyeaf.com. I am working on a new site and I would like this domain back, but I am not sure how to go about unlocking it again. The website hosted through wordpress was made for me by someone in a college class, and I can only remember fragments of all of the login information- which I am aware is not helpful in the recovery process. Can someone help me?

    Much thanks,
    Elyse

    Hi there,
I have added “modlook” tag for the staff assistance. You will get a reply soon from the staff.

  • Howdy –

No problem. The domain doesn’t look to be connected to us at WordPress.com.

    Here’s what I can see:

    Current Nameservers
    ns1.us13.siteground.us
    ns2.us13.siteground.us

    Registrar
TUCOWS, INC. through SG Hosting Inc.

Go to your domain provider and ask them to change the name servers to the service that you want to use. Then the domain will point there with in a short time. I hope that helps. Write back to me with any other questions, happy to help!
