I just created an account but for some reason i don’t have the menu bar that lets me edit appearance, theme, tools, ect. Why is that? I just created it.

The Dashboard is the first screen you see when you log into the administration area of your blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/dashboard/
On the top right hand corner of the page you can click screen options and choose the modules to be displayed and choose 2 columns.

it’s supposed to be chef-mj.wordpress.com but when i type it into the URL i just keep getting this message: The address chef-mj.wordpress.com is reserved and cannot be registered, but you can sign up and choose another one.

When we register a username such as “chef-mj” the matching blog is “reserved and when we want it we contact Staff. If you registered the username “chef-mj” then Staff can activate it for you. If someone esle registered that username you cannot have the matching blog to it.
If you did register that “chef-mj” username here’s the link for contacting Staff http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ Type “claim reserved blog – have matching username” into the searchbox. After you use the searchbox at the bottom of the page there will be a section that says “Have you found the answer to your question?” You can choose either “Yes I found the answer to my question.” or “No I didn’t find the answer to my question and I would like to contact support for help.” The no option will reveal the contact form.

So you are saying that there is a possibility that the domain is taken already. If that is the case why did it let me create the account with a taken domain? Wouls this also explain the menu problem? Because when i go to my dashboard it only gives me tabs Home through Connections and then My profile and Personal settings on the left hand column, and nothing else.

Sorry, i was trying to work on both my blogs and accidentally post with my other account. This is still Marlow Johnson typing.

Did you or did you not register this username account? “chef-mj”
If you did then you can claim the blog that matches it.
If you did not then another person has that username account and they can claim the matching blog to it, and you can’t. -
I under the impression that i created the blog Chef-mj. Just not sure why it’s not connected to my account.

Thanks, i had to use my husbands other blog’s URL since this one would not let me submit due to the problem with t i guess. Hope they answer my question without getting too confused about the 2 different URL accounts.

Simply provide all the details (usernames, etc.) you can up front so it doesn’t end up in a lengthy email exchange. Then Staff can sort it more quickly.
