user can’t access my blog after creating her own

An author on one of my blogs recently created one of her own (mine is hosted at Hostgator, hers is a wordpress.com hosted blog) so that she can learn a bit about the admin and then be able to work more on my blog.

Once she created her own WP hosted site, she has not been able to log in to my site.

She got a message back that she’d need to have the same login for both sites, so I created a new user on mine with the login info for her site, but she is still unable to log in to my site.

    What gives? :-D

These blogs are at WordPress.com? Can we see the urls?

Tell her to clear her browser cache AND all her cookies and try again with the original log on info that got her to your blog in the first place. Let us know if this works.

Did your friend by chance use “open ID’?

    Raincoaster,
Only one (hers) is a wordpress.com blog, though I don’t know the address. I will ask her to do as you explained and see if that works.

    Timethief,
I’m not sure, but I’ll ask her. I’m not familiar with “open ID” and so she might not be either (I’ve been using WP for about a year and a half now) – can you explain this to me?

    Thanks so much!

She cannot use her WordPress.com login info to log into your blog, even if it’s using WordPress software. It’s on a different host, so it’s quite independent. I think that’ll probably clear things up; I had a client who couldn’t get into her own blog and it turned out she was trying her WP.com login on her independent blog.

    Let us know.

    Raincoaster,
I’ve explained that to her, but she says she’s using the username and pw I gave her. She’s across the country so I can’t check for her. When I login as her, it works. She thinks that some connection has been made b/w the 2 sites because she didn’t have a problem logging in before creating her own blog.

I’ve given her the link to the login page for my site, along with her username and pw for her to copy and paste… she’s cleared out her cache, etc. I’m crossing my fingers. Otherwise, I just don’t know what to do!

Thanks for your help. If anybody has any other information, I’d appreciate any help I can get.

Has she used the “log out” link on her blog before attempting to access yours?

(It doesn’t make any sense that this is needed, but it’s something to try)

If she is signed in to wp.com under username A and then tries to sign in again to wp.com at the same time using username B that is probably where the problem is coming from.
