User dependent web site appearance

    I need the same text content, but different web site appearances (colours, logos, etc) for different user groups. These skins should not be changed by user, they must be Administrator controlled.
    My web site must be password protected.
    Can I do this in WordPress? If so, how and what plan do I need?

    Hi @stokmo,

    WordPress.com offers a host of premium themes which are ‘responsive’ – i.e. they change their appearance according to the ‘device’ (different appearance(s) for different platforms, i.e. mobile, tablet, PC etc.).

    However, as far as I know, it would be hard to customize a WordPress.com blog to provide unique skins for a user. To implement functionality at such level, you may want to check the self hosted version of WordPress available at WordPress.org . You are currently using the hosted version available at WordPress.com.

    Also, please note that such functionality is not directly available with WordPress.org software.

    However, the self hosted version of WordPress does have access to a host of plugins which will help you serve your purpose.

    Password Protection
    Even though WordPress.com does not have provisions to password-protect an entire blog, you can still secure individual blog posts with passwords. More on the same here:

    Meanwhile, the self-hosted version of WordPress offers password protection functionality for the entire blog, through plugins.
