User disabled comments on my blog

I believe a user posted a comment on my blog and then disabled the comments. I’ve double-checked and the allow comments feature is on, but comments are not an option.

How can I correct this, and prevent this from happening in the future?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi,

It’s not possible for a user to do that. You’ve (correctly) enabled the comment settings, but comments appear to be disabled on many of your posts. Most likely those posts were written while you had the ‘Allow people to post comments on the article ‘ default setting disabled.

You can enable or disable comments on any individual post (irrespective of the default settings) on the post Edit page, down in the ‘Comments and Pings’ box.

Can we have a link to your blog?

I think I was hacked, which ironically, my last name is Hack. I’m positive I allowed comments on each story and didn’t allow pingbacks… a user’s comment appeared at the same time comments were disabled on individual posts.

How can I delete a user name from my recent posts widget? I deleted the post he/she replied to, but now the username (with a link to their site) is still visible, although the post headline disappeared.
