User Forum widget

Is it possible to create a sidebar widget that takes users to a dedicated user forum page?
This is needed to reduce the number of front page posts that can become cluttered and lost.
A dedicated forum page would greatly simplify this process.

    Thanks..

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I don’t know what you mean about a front page becoming cluttered and lost. All posts appear in reverse chronological order on the front page of our blog when your publish > They appear in order with the most recent post on top. As you publish more posts they others move off the front page. All posts have collapsible comments so they cannot become cluttered. You can set the number of posts that appear on your front page here > Settings > Reading

We cannot embed a forum in free hosted wordpress.com blogs. You can register a free forum on the internet and then link from your blog to it only. If you wish you can place the link to such a forum in a text widget and display it at the top of your sidebar. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/

Great – thanks for the suggestion.

Which free forums do you suggest are the best to use with WP..??

Note that every post and page on your blog is like a mini-forum – you have threaded comments, email notifications, avatars, pagination, and more.

To add a place for general purpose discussions on your blog, I suggest you set up a dedicated page with very little content, and conduct any discussions you need in the comments section on that page.
