User invite is not being received by invitee

    Hello
    I have invited a colleague to be an author on my blog but she is not getting the invite. There is nothing in her spam/junk folder. I resent the invite but she has not received that either. My colleague has a wordpress account but we just cannot link it to my blog.

    I am unsure how to proceed as simply re-sending the invite does not seem to work.
    Hoping you can help.

    The persons username is @suziekitchin – email address (email visible only to moderators and staff)

  • Thanks. Our logs show the invitation email to that address definitely went out, and it shows as successfully delivered.

    Do you know if she’s able to receive other emails from WordPress.com? For example, for sites she’s subscribed to? I notice that is a university email address, and it’s possible the mail servers for that email are blocking emails from us, in which case she’ll need to speak to the institution’s IT department.

    If the email uses the Gmail interface, also check for the email under the Social or Updates folders, as emails from us often get filtered there by Google, skipping the Inbox completely.

    If none of that helps, I can also add them to your site manually, but then I’d need that user to also post here to confirm they are fine with it.

    Thanks for your reply. I’ve spoken to Suzie and she said she received an email last week which prompted her to make an account but then nothing happened. When she subsequently clicks on the invite link in that email, it says it is not valid. That is why we sent the invites today – those are the ones that have not arrived. It is unlikely that it is blocked as our IT team send summaries of blocked emails to individuals to ‘release’ if it is valid. Suzie has received no such emails.

    It would be great if you could manually add Suzie. I will ask her to log in and comment to give her approval.

  • Thanks for confirming, both of you. I’ve added the suziekitchin username as an author, so you should now be able to create posts on that site and it should be listed under My Sites in your dashboard.

    Thanks – I’ve had a quick look and it looks more ‘right’ now! I’ll have a look tomorrow or Friday to see if I can actually post, and will get back to you if there are any issues.
