User limit?
-
Hey guys. Im working on a test site right now but anyway, from what I see, it says 35 users for private blogs
What does it mean by “private”?
Because Im gonna be making one thats open to everyone to sign up to so do I get unlimited amount of users or what?
Is there a way to get unlimited users without paying?
Im just curious cause it says for private blogs and Im not sure what that is
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

A private blog is one that the only people who can read the blog must be invited by the blog owner. Search engines won’t be able to index it.
There is a middle privacy setting, where anyone can read your blog, but search engines are blocked.
If your blog is public, anyone can read it: no limit to how much traffic your blog generates.

I know but can I have as many USERS as I want? I want them to be able to register to my site and show up on my site

No. You can not add more than 35 readers (registered with an account on wp.com), and then you invite them to read your private blog – unless you pay for the upgrade. After 35, you must buy the yearly upgrade.
“I want them to be able to register to my site”
Sorry because I don’t want to sound skeptical. If your blog is public there is no reason to ask your readers to register and then require them to be invited to view your blog. -

What Tess has said makes perfect sense to me. What you propose doesn’t and this is why. We all want to reach as many readers as possible and have them read our content and enter discussion on our blogs. We are focused on making our “public” blogs as welcoming as possible and making commenting as easy as possible. When it comes to attracting readers creating a registered members only blog is equivalent to hanging up a “keep out” sign. That’s why it doesn’t make sense to me at all.

If what you want is CONTRIBUTORS to your blog, you can have as many as you like. The more you add, the “leakier” your system will be, however.
When you say you want them to “show up on your site” what exactly do you mean? Do you want them to be able to comment? Make posts? Upload pictures?
