User Mention
-
I am an administrator and I am trying to help one of our users. The goal is to use the “user mention” function. However, his user name doesn’t show up in the drop down menu when I type @. I had him check his notification settings to be sure he had the box checked to allow this, but our blog did not even appear as one of his sites. He follows the blog via his reader, but apparently is not an official “user” of our blog. How can we fix this?
The site I need help with is marica1776.wordpress.com.

Hi there!
What is the username of that person? Also, can you confirm you’re referring to the blog marica1776.wordpress.com?
-
Yes, the blog is marica1776.wordpress.com.
The user name of the person is noreaster1. He follows our blog. He checked the follow button on his reader and he shows up as one of our followers in the admin console.
But I had him check his settings and he discovered our blog does not show up under “My Sites.”

In order for a user mention to work, they will need to be at least a Contributor on your site: https://wordpress.com/support/user-roles/#list-of-user-roles

Except…….User Mention works perfectly for any number of people who comment at our site and they are not Contributors, Authors, or anything else. Thanks though, I appreciate your help.
