  I am migrating my wordpress.org to wordpress.com. I have to use the same user name and password. My wordpress.com user name is admin your wordpress.org site will not allow that user name. What am I to do?

  Hi there,

  Admin is a common username for WordPress.org sites since they are self-hosted. Since there are millions and millions of sites hosted on WordPress.com, you have to have a unique username that is separate from any other user on our host. Is there a reason you are wanting to use the same username?

  I have to migrate a wordpress.org site to wordpress.comThe written instructions I received from wordpress support was that I had to have the same user name. WordPress.com won’t allow it.  I need to get this site on a supported platform.

  Hmm. Can you confirm whether you are using this tool to import everything?

  Import Your WordPress Site to WordPress.com — Including Themes and Plugins

  If you’re using that it should use your Jetpack connection to move the data over.
