User name vs blog name

  I originally created my blog with the blog name as the user name, but now wonder if it’s better to have my name there. Suggestions?

  Hi,

  You can change your blog URL to something new, if you prefer. For example: you can change your blog URL from https://homegrownandhandeddown.wordpress.com/ to yourname.wordpress.com. And then you’ll also have the option to change your username to match your new blog URL.

  Thanks! What tends to be the most common–using the blog title as the user name & URL or using the person’s name as the user name & URL with the blog title only showing on the blog itself?

  If I keep the homegrownandhandeddown as the user name & URL, will that show up as the author of my blog posts? I want my name to show as author.

  You can make your name show as the author if you change your “Public Display Name” to your name (in your WordPress profile): https://wordpress.com/me

  I’ve noticed it only shows my name when I click through to the actual blog post (doesn’t display on my main blog page).

  I think it really depends on what you want to accomplish. I’ve seen people using their name as the blog URL or something more creative (usually what the blog is about).

  “using the blog title as the user name & URL” is the default setting here at WordPress.com (so probably the most common). Although it’s really easy to change your blog/site title, when you select Site Identity in the Customizer: https://wordpress.com/customize/homegrownandhandeddown.wordpress.com

  Thx! That does help! I plan on keeping the title as is, and now that I can change the author easily, I may leave the URL as is to avoid messing up something in changing.

  It won’t allow me to change the Public Display Name, so it shows the blog title/user name as the author. :-(

  Never mind. I tinkered and managed to change it.
