User name vs, blog title

Why does my blog title (humilitas) not show up in the address of my blog, but my user name (geldmeier1) does? Can I change this and how?

My blog title and tagline (Humilitas/a mindset) appear correctly in my general settings. The address to the site does not show up as humilitas.wordpress.com, which I would prefer. Instead it shows up as http://geldmeier1.wordpress.com. Geldmeie1 is my user name. Can I change the address to reflect the name of my blog? Otherwise, it seems that it would be hard to find.

No, you cannot change the URL. What you would have to do it try and register another blog with the preferred URL (dashboard > my blogs button on lower right). Then you will have to export any posts, pages, etc. you have in the first blog and import them into the new blog.

Alternately you could buy a domain name and domain mapping (humilitas.com) and map that to your current blog. A domain name and the mapping is a recurring $15 per year.

Ok. Is there a way to keep my humilitas site name? When I tried to register a new blog with that in the URL it says it is reserved. Since I can’t find it any where on wordpress besides my site, I assume it is referring to my site. So it won’t let me start a new site with that name even though it doesn’t refer to that name in my first blog’s URL. Is there a way to delete a blog and then start all over? It’s only got one post on it.

FYI when you first register here, the URL of your first blog includes your username, so it’s username.wordpress.com. I tell my students to pick a username that they really want for the BLOG, then go back to their Profile and pick a different nickname, which is the “username” that actually shows up on the blog. That way they have the URL they want and the username they want.
WP should add another step in there to choose blog URL, because too many people get caught out in situations exactly like yours.

I should have checked this earlier. There is already someone here with the username humilitas, https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/humilitas , which means that URL (blog) is reserved for them (since they already have that username).
