User registration, text post pages, event calendars possible?

    Hi,

I’m tempted to buy the CSS for my blog on wordpress.com, but would only do so if I could:

    1. Allow users to register and post (w/o using a wordpress.com login), as they can do for WordPress blogs installed on servers (right? or am I misremembering)
    2. Putting both text and posts on a page
    3. Have an event calendar (e.g., not just a calendar that catalogs posts)

Are these things possible with CSS on WordPress.com?

(p.s. I’m not linking to my blog b/c it’s not relevant)

    Thanks!

I am afraid not. Users can comment on your posts, but in order to be remembered they have to have an account with wordpress.com and is not relevant to a CSS upgrade.

For number 2, I am not quite sure what you are asking, but if I hear you correctly, you can do this without CSS.

The event calender unfortuntely is not an available upgrade on wordpress.com at this time, just the calendar of posts!

    Hope that helps!

Hi Trent–thanks! For #2, what I want to do is to have some text on the top of a page, then show the latest 5 posts for a certain category below it. I’m assuming I’d make a static page, then put code at the bottom to show those 5 posts–can you give me a hint on the code I’d use?

    :)

Ah…I understand what you mean now! I am afraid that is not possible either because we cannot execute ‘template calls’ like a self hosted version of wordpress. Sorry about that!

THANKS! What can you expect for hosting+domain name for $15 a year! It’s still a great deal.
