User Registratoin with Documents Attached to Users

  I would like to make a website that allows people to create their own accounts with profiles and have documents attached to their profiles. They should be able to contribute content to the website in a limited way, decided by the site admin. I would like for users to be able to sign up to events created by other users through the website.

  Is this possible through WordPress? I found some plugins that offer user registration features, but none seem to mention whether a file can be linked to a profile (eg. a cover letter or CV) and be viewed by other users.

  I would also like users to have the ability to create events which other users can sign up to, if there a way of allowing this. The user who created the event would be able to see who has signed up and then visit their profile.
