User roles

Can I make someone an editor for just one page of the blog? I didn’t want someone else to have the ability to change every page on the blog site, but just the ones I give access.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Howdy,

Yes, if the user is set as the author of the page, an “author” will only be able to edit pages/posts assigned to their user account.

An user with an “editor” or “administrator” level can assign a page or post to a different author. When editing the page, find the author box (see here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/new-post-screen/#post-author ). If there’s not one present, click the “Screen Options” at the very top-right of the page (see a screenshot).

If you have any other questions, please let me know. Cheers!

Hello kraftbj. Thank you for the help. I changed the author of a page on my blog, but the user account that is currently the author of that page still doesn’t have the ability to edit the page. The user account is able to post content, but not edit the content on the page for which he is an author. Maybe I am misunderstanding the role or do not see how the new user is able to edit the page.

  • Hi,

I sincerely apologize—I misspoke. Authors can edit their own posts, but pages are limited to Editors and Administrators. I’m sorry I didn’t verify this before sending you on a goose hunt.

I’m afraid it isn’t possible to give an user access to edit only a single page.

I’m sorry again for the confusion.

    Hello,

Thank you for the reply. I thought that was the case, but wasn’t sure.
