User stats for people using VPNs
-
I used to work as an English teacher in SE Asia, and I’ve a number of friends in that part of the world.
I’m assuming they will be using a VPN to access my blog. But they do not show up in my page stats as either a vistor or a page view (I’ve confirmed that at least one of them is a regular visitor).
Is this normal for people viewing a wordpress.com site via a VPN? – It would be nice to know how many of them are reading.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Our stats system worked, as designed, in this case. It correctly counted the clicks to your site. It occasionally happens that your stats are representative of a glitch elsewhere on the Internet.
For more information about the stats we measure, see the following support page:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/If they use a VPN connection then they are probably connection through a different country and therefore they might not appear as being a visitor from the country where you’d expected them to come from.
Please let me know if you need further assistance with your site.

It’s not that they’re coming from a different country, it’s the fact that no view or visit is being registered at all.
-
VPN shouldn’t cause this though. It might be because the following are not reflected in your stats:
* Visits to uploaded documents and files
* Visits from browsers that do not execute javascript or load images
* GoogleBot and other search engine spiders
* Visits you make to your own publicly available blog (when logged in to your account)
* Visits by users that are logged in, and listed as admins on the blog -

Ok Cheers, at least I know that it does work at some level.
Maybe it’s a SE Asia thing – or maybe they’re using a mobile or something…

Hi me again
I’ve judging my stats both via wordpress and statcounter.
WordPress is counting 5 visits, but statcounter is only showing 2.
I’ve ran a few tests, but can’t understand why this is happening.
I know visitors take longer than visits to appear, but this seems to be a regular occurance.

Statcounter might measure things differently. It’s a tool that doesn’t run on our servers and therefore doesn’t track everything.
Please let us know if you need any further assistance!
