user vs blog address

  I couldn’t decided on which blog address I wanted to use so I kept changing it and my username to match. Now I have decided I want the one I changed it from this last time back, but it tells me that the site is reserved because I already had it? Will the address be released after some time has passed or is it just lost forever?
